I was super excited yesterday when upon opening my email account, I had an email from the blogging and social media editor from BlogHer! They wanted to syndicate one of my posts that I’d uploaded to my BlogHer blog! And they wanted to pay me! Whoa! I wasn’t going to refuse that offer!
More than one way to get published!
Did you know that BlogHer pays existing BlogHer members to write for them? I had heard that they did this, but was unsure how to go about it. While this is certainly one way to get a post syndicated on their site, it’s not the only way! While I was sure that there was a blog posts monitor on BlogHer, I didn’t know that they would be actively searching for posts that they could syndicate.
The main way to get your blog posts published on BlogHer is to fill out their form. Simple huh? Well….not so simple to find. Maybe I’m just directionally challenged on their site, but I was unable to figure out how to submit ideas for paid blog posts. I had to Google it. In case you’re wondering:
- Log into your BlogHer account.
- Hover over your profile image in the top right-hand corner.
- Click on ‘my opportunities’ in the drop down menu.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page to ‘write for BlogHer’.
My syndicated post!
The blog post that got the attention of BlogHer was After You Hit Pubish: the Ultimate Blog Post Checklist. I’d uploaded it to my BlogHer blog for the sake of getting a couple more pageviews and blog exposure. I didn’t upload the entire blog post though. I uploaded about half of it and had a link straight to the blog post on my own blog if anyone wanted to read further.
Anyway, one day later I was contacted by BlogHer asking if they could syndicate it and pay me! Woo Hoo! Here’s my post on the front page of BlogHer! Go HERE to view!
You can get published too!
Start using your BlogHer blog as a way to gain traffic and exposure! Upload blog posts and see what happens! You could get contacted by BlogHer just as I did. Or if you prefer a more direct route, fill out their form for blog submission ideas!
It seems that blog posts about blogging do well because the whole community is made up of women who are bloggers! While I’ve uploaded several posts about blogging that you can view in full HERE, this is the first that made such an impact!
