DIY Paper Fan Craft

paper fan craft 2

As a result of flipping through a crafting magazine, I decided to make a paper fan accordion style! What I like about this diy craft is that it is easily customizable in color, pattern and size! It wasn’t too difficult to make, especially after making the first one. I hope you try this for your next party.

DIY Paper Fan Craft

Supplies:

  • 12×12 paper, any color or pattern
  • scissors & paper cutter
  • bone
  • scoring board *optional*
  • hot glue gun
  • hole punch
  • ruler
  • string/fishing line

Directions:

  1. Cut your decorative paper with these dimensions: 4 inches by 12 inches. You will need 3 of these for 1 paper fan. craft 035
  2. Using your scoring board or a ruler mark your paper lengthwise every 1/2 inch from one end to the other. Then accordion fold along each 1/2 line using a craft bone folder to ‘seal’ each fold.paper fan 2
  3. Pinching the folds together cut then ends of one end to a point. That will make it pretty and like a fan on the edges. Do this to all 3 of your decorative, custom cut papers.
  4. Now glue these 3 accordion folded, pointed papers to each other to connect them. For added strength when you connect them, double it over and use extra strength tape. paper fan
  5. Pinch the accordion folds together tightly and on the non-pointed end, apply hot glue and press it down on a glue-gun acceptable surface to seal until dried, which should be about 30 seconds. paper fan 3
  6. Lay your fan on your table and spread out so that the ends touch each other. On both ends apply tape or glue {I wouldn’t suggest hot glue; it would be messy} and adhere the ends together. paper fan 4
  7. For the decorative centerpiece, I used paper punches laid atop each other for  a pretty look. You can use whatever you have on hand or just a pair of scissors will work perfectly! Adhere with hot glue. paper fan 5
  8. Insert a small hole punch near the outer edge of your fan to hang if you like. Or you can glue a skewer  to the back of your fan to insert in a potted plant, etc. craft 064
  9. You’re done! Have fun making more, hanging, decorating!
